The second T20 match was played in Cuttack on October 5, where the visitors defeated the hosts by 6 wickets. The third T20 match at Kolkata was called off due to rain. India has defeated Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, New Zealand, West Indies and Bangladesh on home turf.

But a victory against the South Africans in T20 on Indian soil has remained elusive. This year, India has better chances of defeating the South Africans on their home ground as their key players, including AB De Villiers, Faf Du Plessis and JP Duminy, will be out of the pitch. The team will be led by newly-appointed captain, Quinton De Kock, who is an exceptional batsman. The role of captain will be a new test for him.
