Auction of the Indian Premier League 2020 will be held in Kolkata on December 19. For the first time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to conduct auctions at a new venue. Earlier it used to be held in Bengaluru. According to an ESPN Cricinfo report, this will be the last auction before the franchises disband and prepare to assemble fresh squads in 2021. The auction for 2019 took place in January when the franchises were allowed to retain five players before building up a new squad. The trading window for all the eight franchises will close on November 14, 2019, after which no franchise can exchange players. For IPL Auction 2020 the franchises have been allowed Rs 85 crore budget to build up teams.
