Indian Railways cancels all tickets booked to travel on or before June 30

Indian Railways on Thursday announced that it has cancelled all regular train tickets booked for the travel on or before June 30. The Indian Railways also stated that full refunds will be issued to all the passengers who had booked tickets for the travel. However, it does not include the Shramik Special trains and special trains that started running from May 12. The Shramik Special trains are taking the migrant labourers from the different states to their home states while the special trains are running on 15 routes to ferry the stranded persons across the country. On May 12, the Indian Railways started 15 special trains amid ongoing lockdown with an aim to gradually resume the train services in India which is said to be a lifeline for the transport and communication in the country. The tickets of the regular trains, which are being cancelled, were booked during the lockdown when the railways was allowing the bookings for journeys in June. The regular mail, express, passenger and suburban services of the railways had been suspended from March 25 due to the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus. https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1260793402888556545 On the first day of the bookings on IRCTC, the Indian Railways booked tickets for around 80,000 passengers, earning a staggering amount of Rs 16 crore. The Railway on Wednesday issued an order introducing the provision of waiting list starting May 22 for the journeys not only on special trains but also on all its forthcoming services.
