IPL 2021: The Indian Premier League 2021 is all set to commence on Friday at Chennai with Royal Challengers Bangalore playing its first match against defending champions Mumbai Indians.
This is the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Just like the last season, no teams will be playing at their home venue.
Defending champions Mumbai Indians will start its campaign on Friday in the season opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore. This means Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Deputy skipper Rohit Sharma will be up against each other.
Both the teams will look forward to breaking their unwanted streak in the cash-rich league. Since 2012, MI has failed to win its opening match of the season while RCB is yet to win at the Chepauk Stadium since 2014.
IPL 2021 will be held in 6 cities across India – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. The initial matches will be played behind closed doors.
However, the BCCI is still thinking about allowing crowds during the second half of the tournament.
While Mumbai Indians seem as strong as it always looks, RCB is looking much better in comparison with their previous squads. With Maxwell's entry into the squad, RCB is expecting to change its fortune.
