Jalandhar: DC directs officers to plug 350 feet wide breach at Meowal by tomorrow

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday directed the Irrigation and Drainage department to complete the work of plugging the 350 feet wide breach at village Meowal. The Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, today undertook the visit of Meowal village where the work of plugging the 350 feet wide breach was going on in full swing. He said that the work must be accomplished by all means until tomorrow morning. Sharma asked the department to pump in more resources so that the work was completed at the earliest. The Deputy Commissioner further said that all our efforts must be made to ensure the timely completion of this work. Sharma also thanked the religious leaders of the area including Baba Talwinder Singh Ji (Kahana Dhesian), Baba Kashmira Singh Ji and Baba Nirmal Singh Ji for extending fulsome support and cooperation in accomplishing this gigantic task. He said that support of religious leaders and their volunteers was very crucial in this onerous task. He assured Sharma that the work would be completed by tomorrow morning by all means. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also met the volunteers and MGNREGA workers involved in filling of sandbags for plugging the breach. He lauded the valuable contribution being made by them for this task. -PTC News
