An encounter took place between terrorists and security forces in Sopore sub-district of Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, the officials stated. publive-image The gunfight took place in the morning after the joint teams of forces carried out a search operation in the Gulabad area of Sopore, 50 km from Srinagar, following input received about the presence of militants in the area.

A hard cordon was maintained by the security forces in the area for the whole night. On Wednesday morning as the security forces started the search operation, the militants opened fire which triggered an encounter. J&K However, there were no reports of any causality on either side. Nine terrorists and six security men have been martyred in the different operations in Kashmir since Saturday. The Army sources revealed that while 4 terrorists were killed on Saturday in Batpura in South Kashmir. Five other terrorists were eliminated along with Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector. The terrorists were accused of killing the civilians over last 12 days, four such killings took place in South Kashmir. -PTC News-
