Jammu and Kashmir: Punjab-based Apple trader killed in a militant attack in Shopian

In a major incident, a Punjab-based apple trader was killed, while another was injured in a militant attack in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday evening. The traders have been identified as Charanjeet Singh (41) from Ferozpur, and Sanjeev (24) from Gurdaspur. They were shot by 3-4 militants at Trenz at around 7:30 pm. Both of them were rushed to the hospital, where Charanjeet succumbed to his injuries, while Sanjeev is still critical. It is the third incident in Kashmir. On Wednesday, a migrant worker from Chhatisgarh was killed in Pulwama district. The deceased was identified as Sethi Kumar Sagar (22). This came two days after the militants killed a driver of Rajasthan truck and assaulted a shop owner in Shopian. The police have termed it as an “act of depression”. The encounter broke out at the Pazalpora area in Anantnag district, after the security forces conducted a search operation, following an input received by the intelligence. -PTC News
