Jammu and Kashmir: Four terrorists killed in Shopian encounter

At least four terrorists have been killed in an encounter in Sugoo area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. A joint operation was launched in the early morning on Wednesday after the Jammu and Kashmir Police intelligence received input about the presence of militants in the area. Meanwhile, a Cordon and search operation was laid and contact was established in the early hours. The PRO of the Indian Army, Srinagar, stated that the joint operation is underway. Earlier in the day, it was reported that in the last 15 days, at least 22 terrorists including 8 top commanders were killed in Jammu and Kashmir by the security forces. Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir commander Adil Ahmad Wani and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) cadre Shaheen Ahmad Thoker were neutralised on May 25. Likewise, Hizbul Commander Parvaiz Ahmad Pandith and Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Shakir Ahmed Itoo were killed on May 30. Army's operation against terrorists continues | Jammu Kashmir News Similarly, Jem commander Aaqib Ramzan Wani and Awantipora JeM commander Mohammad Maqbool Chopan were gunned down on June 2, the news agency ANI reported. Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir's Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh stated that around 88 militants were killed this year in about 36 operations. -PTC News
