Jammu: Building collapses after fire breaks out, 6 injured

Jammu Building Collapse: In a major incident, a three-storey building collapsed on Wednesday while the fire department personnel were trying to put out a blaze in Talab Tillo area in Jammu city. Six people including two firefighters were injured. The building, with a saw mill on the ground floor, collapsed during firefighting in Golepulli area. An official said that several people, including five firemen, were trapped under the debris. Meanwhile, two officials and a civilian were rescued and were shifted to a hospital. Also, the operation to resuce the three other officials was underway. An official of fire department said that the firefighters rushed after receiving a distress call at around 4:48 am. The firefighters were making efforts to put out the blaze when the building collapsed at 5:30 am. The injured have been identified as Head Constables Puran Singh and Sat Pal, besides Lokesh Kumar, Amit, Gurpreet Singh and Rahil who are residents of Talab Tillo. Meanwhile, all the injured were rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital. Recently, a three-storey building collapsed in Mohali near Kharar-Landran road. Four people were injured. Have asked DC Mohali @GirishDayalan to send a detailed report on what caused this collapse." -PTC News
