J&K: 3 militants killed in encounter with security forces
Three militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, here on Saturday morning.
Three militants had been killed in the operation at Chowgam in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, a police official said.
A total of five militants were believed to be engaged in the encounter, the officer said.
The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation after receiving special information about the presence of militants in the area in the morning.
The militants opened fire on the security forces, prompting them to retaliate and killed three during the ongoing operation, the official said.
Meanwhile, train services have been suspended in the Valley due to apprehensions of law and order problems.
