Japan hit by 6.1 magnitude earthquake
A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck east of Japan's island of Honshu on Thursday. There were no immediate reports of damage or causalities so far.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the temblor occurred at 5:18 p.m. local time. It was centred offshore, with its epicentre at a latitude of 40.4 degrees north and longitude of 143.4 degrees east.

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km. The weather agency has not issued a tsunami warning or advisory as a result of the quake.
