Jawaharpur reports 10 new cases, including 6-month-old; Mohali count 48

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Mohali has reached 48 after 10 new cases were reported from Jawaharpur village in Derabassi on Friday. According to the information, a 6-month-old child is among the 10 new cases reported on Friday. The toddler is the youngest victim of coronavirus in the district, probably in Punjab as well. Meanwhile, it has been reported that extensive sampling has enabled the officials to identify more positive cases within the village and timely isolate them. DC Mohali Girish Dayalan said that "Containing without extensive sampling would not have achieved the desired/same results." "Our health teams have even regularly sampled over 10 dead bodies - where also a positive case was discovered. Kudos to them!" he added. Meanwhile, there are 41 active cases in the district while 5 of the patients have been cured. Earlier on Friday, a 78-year-old woman, who passed away in Mohali on Tuesday, tested positive for coronavirus. Her reports confirmed on Friday that she was diagnosed with the pandemic. It was the second death in the district.
