Gunfight erupts between militants and security forces in Baramulla A fresh gunfight has raged between militants and security forces in Baramulla district on Friday early morning, a day after six militants were killed. Police said the gunfight started after joint forces of Army, Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search (CASO) at Behrampora on the outskirts of Sopore after an input about the presence of militants. “At around 4 am as the forces zeroed in on the area, the hiding militants opened fire triggering a gunfight which is still under way,” a police officer in Sopore said. Restrictions have been imposed in parts of Srinagar on Friday to foil protests called by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik against the recent killings. -PTC News
