Karnal Farmers' Protest: As farmers gathered around the Mini-Secretariat in Karnal in protest against the August 28 lathicharge, the Haryana Government on Thursday extended the temporary suspension of mobile Internet and SMS service in the district to ensure law and order. In an order issued by the Haryana government, it stated that the "situation has been reviewed and observed to be still tensed and would trigger any time which may adversely affect the public safety and law and order situation in district Karnal in wake of call for Kisan Mahapanchayat and further to continue their dharna."

publive-image In order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours, Additional Chief Secretary to the Haryana government, Rajeev Arora, order the suspension of the mobile internet services, all SMS services including bulk SMS and all dongle services etc provided on mobile networks except the voice calls in district Karnal with effect from 07.00 hrs on September 9 to 23:59. All telecom service providers of Haryana have been directed to ensure the compliance of this order. publive-image The government further ordered that this order was issued to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of district Karnal.
