Karnal lathicharge: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and farmer unions from Haryana will hold a meeting in Karnal on September 11 to chalk out the future course of action. This was revealed by farmer leader Suresh Koth on Thursday.
Notably, farmers in Karna laid siege to the Mini-Secretariat after the Karnal administration failed to take any action against former SDM Ayush Sinha, who had ordered to "smash the heads of protesting farmers in Karnal on August 28.

One farmer died while several others sustained injuries in the Karnal lathicharge on August 28. Since September 7, farmers have bene sitting outside the Mini-Secretariat and have refused to budge till their demands are fulfilled.
With no breakthrough in the talks held in Karnal between the Haryana Government and farm leaders protesting against the police lathicharge, leaders of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha said they would continue their siege of the Mini-Secretariat in the town.

Meanwhile, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Thursday said the Haryana Government was ready for a probe into the entire Karnal episode, including an IAS officer's controversial remarks and a lathicharge by the police on farmers that triggered a sit-in outside the Mini-Secretariat. The minister made it clear that "nobody can be hanged without a probe just because someone demands it".
