Karnal lathicharge: Ahead of the proposed gherao of the Mini-Secretariat in Karnal on Tuesday, armed miscreants from Rambha, Nissing and other nearby areas were spotted at Anaj Mandi in the district on Tuesday. Administrative and police officials said ground intelligence reports indicated that some elements from nearby areas might try to take law and order into their hands. The police as well as the administration have spoken to kisan leaders, who reportedly tried to persuade these armed miscreants to leave the venue.

The officials said ground intelligence reports indicated that some elements from Rambha, some from Nissing and some from other places have reached Anaj Mandi armed with lathis, jellis, iron rods. Notably, to protest over the lathicharge on agitating farmers in Karnal on August 28 and in support of their other demands, kisan leaders gave a call for the gherao of the Mini-Secretariat and a mahapanchayat in the district on September 7.
