Karnal Mini-Secretariat gherao enters Day 4, farmers refuse to budge
The gherao of the Karnal Mini-Secretariat by farmers entered the fourth day on September 10. They are protesting over the August 28 Karnal lathicharge and demanding the suspension of former Karnal SDM Ayush Sinha, who is facing the flak for ordering police action on the protesters.
While farmer leaders are firm on their demand for the suspension of IAS officer and former Karnal SDM Ayush Sinha and the registration of a case against him, the administration has refused to take any action without proper investigation into the case.

A senior farmer leader said so far, they had not received any invitation from the district administration for further talks. Notably, farmers unions have called a meeting in Karnal on September 11 to chalk out the future course of action.
With no breakthrough in the talks held in Karnal between the Haryana Government and farm leaders protesting against the police lathicharge, leaders of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha have said they would continue to lay siege to the Mini-Secretariat in the town.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on September 9 said the Haryana Government was ready for a probe into the entire Karnal episode, including an IAS officer's controversial remarks and a lathicharge by the police on farmers that triggered a sit-in outside the Mini-Secretariat. The minister made it clear that "nobody can be hanged without a probe just because someone demands it".
