Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa has been admitted to the hospital after testing positive for the novel coronavirus. His health condition is said to be stable, the doctors said.
After Karnataka Chief Minister, his youngest daughter BY Padmavati was found to have been infected with the contagion disease. According to the sources, the chief minister in the morning spoke to some family members on phone.
Meanwhile, BS Yediyurappa’s staff members have also tested positive for coronavirus. Reportedly, six staff members of CMO have tested positive for coronavirus a day after Yediyurappa was tested positive for the disease. Yediyurappa was hospitalised late last evening. In a post on Twitter, Yediyurappa said that he was fine but had been hospitalised on the advice of doctors.
"I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine," he tweeted.
Yediyurappa's test results came in hours after the Union Home Minister Amit Shah tested positive for the contagion disease. Earlier, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and former Union minister P Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram also tested positive for coronavirus. Last week, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also tested positive.
