Kartarpur corridor: India and Pakistan unlikely to sign agreement on October 23

The signing of an agreement on Kartarpur Corridor between India and Pakistan is unlikely to take place tomorrow (Wednesday). Earlier, both countries had announced that the agreement would be signed on October 23. While there has been no confirmation on the next date for the signing of the agreement, there are reports suggesting that it will be done on October 24.

As per reports, officials of India and Pakistan will sign Kartarpur corridor pact on October 24. The pact is likely to be signed by a Home ministry official from the Indian side. Pakistan is insisting on levying a fee of $20 per pilgrim despite India’s objections.

The corridor will facilitate visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims who need a permit to visit Karatarpur Sahib. India and Pakistan have held a series of talks for the functioning of the corridor ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
