Kartarpur Corridor Project Hits Roadblock
The Kartarpur corridor project that would link Pakistan’s Gurudwara Darbar Sahib with India’s Dera Baba Nanak shrine has hit a roadblock as the technical experts couldn’t reach a consensus on whether to build a bridge or a road to connect the two structures. The experts from both the countries met on Monday to discuss the impending issues. According to reports the meeting between the officials lasted only for an hour during which both the sides shared details of work. While India wants to construct a bridge on Ravi river, Pakistan has suggested to construct a road. The Indian officials have stated the possibility of floods to object to building a road. Pakistan on the other hand has said that a dam can be built around the road and the road can be elevated to avoid flood waters. The two countries also could not agree on the date for the next meeting.
