The Delhi Government will be sending senior citizens from the city on free pilgrimage to Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan on January 5 next year. An official statement in this regard was issued by the Delhi Government on Friday. As per information, senior citizens of the national capital will be taken to Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan under the free pilgrimage scheme of the Delhi Government. The first batch of devotees will leave on January 5 next year in a deluxe bus from Delhi. The first train under it will carry 1,000 elderly pilgrims and depart for Ayodhya on December 3. Registrations for the pilgrimage have already begun. Scheme was launched in 2018 Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had launched the 'Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana' in 2018. Under the scheme, the Delhi Government provides free pilgrimage to senior citizens of the city to places such as Mathura, Rameshwaram, Shirdi, Haridwar, Jagannath Puri and Tirupati. Vailankanni Church in Tamil Nadu has also been added to the list of places of pilgrimage under the scheme.
