Kejriwal Govt failed to appoint 686 Punjabi teachers in Govt schools for teaching Punjabi: Sirsa
The Delhi MLA Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa has strongly condemned the Kejriwal governmentfor not keeping of its promise on appointment of 686 Punjabi teachers in government schools and said that it was deliberately trying to finish Punjabi subject in these schools.
Mr. Sirsa said that he had taken up this issue in Delhi Assembly also. He said that the Kejriwal Government had promised to fill 686 posts of Punjabi teachers in government schools against the vacant posts and it had also published advertisements in favor of its announcements not only in Delhi but also in Punjab on the eve of Punjab Assembly elections only to lure Punjabi voters. He said that after losing the Punjab elections, it had forgot its promises made to the people of the National Capital.
Mr. Sirsa said it was surprising that this government had promised to appoint one Punjabi teacher each in government schools. But what to talk of appointing new teachers this government miserably failed to fill even 686 Regular posts of Punjabi which are laying vacant in different schools. He said that it seems that the Kejriwal government is deliberately adopting tactics to finish Punjabi in government schools of the National Capital whereas a major chunk of the people in National capital speaks Punjabi in their homes also.
He said that if the government fails to appoint teachers for a period of two years then students will leave Punjabi and opt for other subjects which will ultimately distract them from their mother tongue.
The Delhi MLA said that though the agenda of the government could be only misleading the people but this is a serious issue which is affecting the future of the students and they are being denied their basic right to learn their mother tongue in schools.
Mr. Sirsa also informed that not only this but the Punjabi Academy working under the Delhi Government has also failed to give prizes to the winners of 2013 and 2014 whereas it is yet to announce awards for 2015, 2016 and 2017. He said that such sorry state of affairs with regard to Punjabi is disheartening the Punjabis settled in the National Capital.
