Kejriwal ran away from Talwandi Sabo as he had no answer for his double speak and betrayal - Harsimrat Badal Chandigarh, April 13 - Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today said AAP Convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had run away from attending his party's political conference at Talwandi Sabo because he had no answer as to why he betrayed the farmers of Punjab by siding with Haryana on the SYL canal issue. In a statement here, Mrs Badal this could be the only reason for giving the Baisakhi day political conference a miss because the Delhi CM had attended the Maghi mela and was till recently visiting Punjab on every given opportunity. "Mr Kejriwal had also announced at a Maghi that he would make an important announcement on Baisakhi", she added. The Union minister said Kejriwal could have easily come to Talwandi Sabo today but did not come as he did not want to face the wrath of Punjabis who felt betrayed by the anti- Punjab affidavit given by his counsel on the SYL issue besides the "help" extended by AAP in getting the "Piau Sahab" of the historic Sisganj Gurdwara demolished. "He knew he had been exposed on both issues and that's why did not have the courage to attend the Talwandi Sabo conference", she added. Stating that Kejriwal had behaved like a coward by missing the party's Talwandi Sahab conference, the union minister said this had also exposed the Delhi chief minister and brought his real nature to the forefront. "He says one thing but does the opposite. He is the master of double speak. He said he supported Punjab on the SYL issue but filed an anti Punjab affidavit in the apex court. Similarly his minister presided over a meeting held with the express purpose of demolishing the "Piau Sahab" at Sisganj Gurdwara ", she added. Mrs Badal also said Kejriwal should immediately tell whether he would file a pro - Punjab affidavit in the Supreme Court on the SYL issue or continue to play politics on this sensitive matter. She said Kejriwal had announced that he would file a fresh affidavit on the SYL issue on April 11 but is yet to do so.  "Punjabis want you to spell out your stand on the SYL canal and also tell why you lied to them that you were with them on this issue even as you contradicted your statement upon reaching Delhi and even took an anti- Punjab stand in the Supreme Court", she added.
