Kerala Floods Hit Ludhiana's Bicycle Industry

Kerala Floods Hit Ludhiana's Bicycle Industry The floods in Kerala have hit Ludhiana’s Bicycle Industry. Several sectors of the bicycle and parts manufacturing industry had been hit as the supply chain is totally disrupted. Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma, a supplier of cycle components to Kerala, said, “The state is one of the biggest markets of bicycles and parts in southern India. A large number of factories in Ludhiana depend on this market. But due to recent floods, we have stopped supply there and consignments that were on the way are stranded. There is no possibility of these being delivered now. Moreover, we are unable to contact our dealers based there and inquire about their well-being.” Inderjit Singh Navyug, president of United Cycle and Parts’ Manufacturers’ Association (UCPMA), said, “We stand by the people of Kerala in this hour of crisis. The state is a huge and old market of bicycles and components. Halting of business activity there and disruption of a supply chain are a setback for manufacturers and traders.” -PTC NEWS
