The North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has ordered citizens to give up their pet dogs so that they can be converted into meat for restaurants. North Korea has been reportedly facing a shortage of food supplies due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. To deal with the food crisis, the Supreme Leader ordered citizens to hand over their pet dogs. Dog meat has been considered a delicacy in Korea, although the tradition of eating dog meat is gradually fading out in South Korea. As per the UN report, North Korea's 25.5 million people are facing "widespread food shortages". The heavy rains have caused flooding led to the failure of paddy crops.
