KKR vs RR, IPL 2020: Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who were exceptional during India’s campaign in the Under-19 World Cup title in 2018 in New Zealand, helped Kolkata Knight Riders to seal victory against Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs on Wednesday.
Shivam Mavi, who made fleeting appearances for the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018, was sidelined from the entire IPL 2019. Nagarkoti hadn’t played any form of top-flight cricket, besides two Vijay Hazare Trophy games for Rajasthan, after winning the Under-19 World Cup.
After around two years, they both were fit again and were picked by Knight Riders to play IPL 2020 in Abu Dhabi.
Both Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi failed to bag any wicket against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi. However, Nagarkoti claimed 2 wickets in two overs while Shivam Mavi bagged 2 wickets in 4 overs giving just 20 runs.
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first. While batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 174-6 courtesy Shubman Gill who scored 47 runs, Andre Russell who scored 24 off 14, Nitish Rana (22 off 17), Eoin Morgan (34 off 23), and Patt Cummins (12 off 10).
Chasing 175, Rajasthan Royals lost a big wicket in the beginning in the form of skipper Steven Smith (3). Afterward, big fish Sanju Samson was dismissed by Shivam Mavi who scored just 8 runs.
Afterward, the wickets fells like cards. Jos Buttler (21), Robin Uthappa (2), Riyan Parag (1), Rahul Tewatia (14), Shreyas Gopal (5), Jofra Archer (6), and Jaydev Unadkat (9).
It was only Tom Curran who played exceptional innings of 54 runs off just 36 balls including 2 boundaries and 3 sixes.
