Kotkapura police firing: SIT submits status report; next hearing on August 20
Chandigarh, August 6: The special investigation team (SIT) investigating the 2015 Kotkapura firing incidents has submitted a status report to a Faridkot court.
On Friday, member of the SIT, Moga senior superintendent of police Gulneet Singh Khurana submitted the status report to the court under a sealed cover. After this, Faridkot additional sessions judge Rajiv Kalra stated that no party would be permitted access to the report due to the confidentiality of the information, which could jeopardise the ongoing investigation.
Notably, the trial court in Faridkot on July 12 had directed the SIT to submit status reports within a fortnight. However, it failed to file the status report by the deadline.
The next hearing is scheduled for August 20. According to sources, the status report filed by SIT is likely to be made public on August 20.
