Following the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, people were looking forward to an opposition led by the Grand Old Party (the Congress), but the party first needed to fix its deep-rooted problems and remove its structural weaknesses, said political strategist Prashant Kishor on Friday.
"People looking for a quick, spontaneous revival of GOP-led opposition based on #LakhimpurKheri incident are setting themselves up for a big disappointment. Unfortunately, there are no quick-fix solutions to the deep-rooted problems and structural weakness of GOP," Kishor said in a tweet while targeting the Congress .

A total of eight persons died in the violence that took place at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh on October 3.
The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested two persons and issued a summon to Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra, for questioning in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

Since Ashish Mishra did not appear before the police on Friday, another notice has been pasted outside his house summoning him at 11 am on October 9.
