The Honorable PM's clarion Call of One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) Scheme was launched in UT Chandigarh by Shri. V P Singh Badnore, the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh on 31st October, 2020, during the celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. Sh. Manoj Parida, Advisor to the Administrator, Chandigarh and Sh. Vinod P. Kavle, Secretary Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology, UT, Chandigarh and other senior officials were also present at the event. It may also be noted that, Chandigarh has recently been ranked as the Best administered UT in the country. One nation, One ration card This ONORC enables the migrant beneficiaries to get ration, even when he moves out to other states or UTs. This is particularly helpful for the migrant labour who stays a few months at one place and thereafter goes to other State for work. Without portability of the ration card, these migrant people were deprived of their entitlement of ration under the National Food Security Act, 2013. chd administration educare For this purpose, the department has setup helpline no. “14445” and a dedicated service window in the office. The migrant person has to either call on “14445” or visit the service window in the department to register under the ONORC Scheme. They have to visit the office for biometric authentication. After successful registration, the food subsidy amount in lieu of food grains will be transferred into the the Migrant's bank account as per the entitlement under NFSA. -PTC News
