Lok Sabha passes the Consumer Protection Bill 2019

Lok Sabha on Tuesday have passed the Consumer Protection Bill 2019, in an order to protect the interests of consumers. The bill aims to establish authorities for timely and effective administration and for the settlement of consumers dispute. Tabling the bill, the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Raosaheb Patil Danve stated that the bill eyes to simply some of the rules. https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1156137450781270016 Danve said, the bill will help consumers to get speedy justice over their complaints. Also, he said, the government is aiming to provide an ease to the process for redressal of the consumer grievances. Likewise, the BJP Minister Rajendra Agarwal mentioned the Consumer Protection Bill as comprehensive. Furthermore, he stated that the business nowadays is changing and the consumers are getting used to the technologies, as it the era of e-commerce. Hence, he said the bill will provide security to the consumers. Meanwhile, Protima Mondal of Trinamool Congress welcomed the Consumer Protection Bill 2019 and said that bringing e-commerce under the belt of the bill is a big step in itself. Under the Consumer Protection Bill 2019, there is a provision for the central government to establish a Central Consumer Protection Authority in an order to promote, protect the rights of consumers.
