Ludhiana: Congress launches dharna outside VB office against Ashu’s arrest

Ludhiana, August 24: Congress leaders and workers on Wednesday launched an indefinite protest outside Ludhiana’s Vigilance Bureau office after former Punjab Cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu was sent to police custody till August 27 in connection with the tender allotment scam.

While staging the protest, Congress workers said they would continue to stage the protest till the remand of Bharat Bhushan Ashu ended. Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, MLA Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and others are also part of the protest. Notably, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Monday arrested former Congress minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu in the tender scam. The former Cabinet minister was arrested from a salon, where Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu was also present. He is in police remand till August 27. Reportedly, Ashu's health deteriorated in the vigilance custody, following which he was provided immediate treatment.
