Ludhiana MC polls: 43% turnout till 2 PM: After rain in the city on Saturday morning played spoilsport for the Ludhiana municipal corporation polls, turnout of voters increased as the day progressed. By 2 PM, Ludhiana saw a 43.06% turnout. At the same time, Jagraon (ward 17) recorded 65 % turnout while the 73.50% voters had cast their vote in Payal (Ward 5). Voting is set to continue till 4 pm. A total of 494 candidates are contesting for the 95 municipal wards. Results will be announced on February 27. Voting for the biggest municipal body in Punjab, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, began today morning at 8 AM and will continue till 4 PM. A total number of 494 candidates, belonging to the Congress, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Lok Insaf Party will be contesting the elections from 95 municipal wards. 1,153 polling stations have been created for voting for the 10.5 lakh voters in Ludhiana, who are eligible to cast their votes. -PTC News
