11 dead as 5.4 magnitude earthquake hits Haiti An earthquake measuring 5.9 jolts the Northwest coast of Haiti on Saturday. According to the sources, more than 11 people have been killed. The earthquake has caused a lot of damage in terms of buildings and properties in the Caribbean nation. The epicenter of the earthquake is 12 miles northwest of the city of Port-de-Paix. The earthquake jolts around 8:10 pm or 0010 GMT-Sunday. President Jovenel Moise has urged the Haitians to remain calm. He also told the public that the regional and local authorities were already assisting the people in need.
