Amritsar,October 14 – Punjab Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said he hoped PAAP Party Convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal would appear in court tomorrow in the criminal defamation case filed against him and positively submit an application asking for day to day hearing in the matter.
In a statement here, Mr Majithia said Kejriwal’s junior Ashish Khetan had already cleared the ground for not appearing in the case by making an appearance like a fugitive yesterday to ward off facing a quick trial. “I hope you will not adopt similar diversionary and delaying tactics, which unfortunately have also been adopted by your deputy Sanjay Singh who is facing a criminal defamation case in Ludhiana”.
Mr Majithia said in case the PAAP leader did not submit an application for day to day hearing in the case tomorrow it would be proved that he could only make wild boasts but did not have the guts to stand up to them. “You have already proven by your past actions that you never stand up to your boasts and always apologize promptly when your bluff is called. In this case also you seem to be delaying action against yourself so that you do not have to apologize and beg forgiveness before the 2017 assembly elections in Punjab”.
Asking the AAP leader to end his cheap theatrics, Mr Majithia said
Kejriwal should either appear for day to day hearing in the criminal defamation case filed against him, or have the moral courage to come clean and admit all his lapses before the court as well as the people of Punjab and face the jail term due to him in the case.
Mr Majithia said even though this was the path every decent citizen would take, it might be too much to expect from Arvind Kejriwal who had rode on the shoulders of the India Against Corruption movement and even betrayed its leader Anna Hazare. “After this you threw out the co-founders of AAP including Prashant Bhushan and Yoginder Yadav and recently you have crossed all bounds of decency by even going against the national interest by questioning the surgical strikes executed by the brave jawans of our armed forces”.
Stating that all this showed how AAP had become PAAP now, Mr Majithia said the recent sordid tales of sexual misconduct and sleaze which had emanated from the PAAP party was also proof of this contention. He said the leaders of the PAAP were now only following the 3 “C”s of corruption, criminalization and characterless behavior and given governance a go-by.
Speaking on the issue of court hearing in the criminal defamation case against
Kejriwal which is slated for her
tomorrow, the akali leader said “I once again challenge you to agree to day to day hearing of your case
tomorrow. I will welcome and support this move. Following this it will be a matter of a few weeks before you go to jail.
