Man dressed as woman steals debit cards, valuables from DU hostel

A man secured entry into Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi University in the guise of a woman and stole cash and debit cards from the girls’ hostel. The incident came to light after three days when an FIR was lodged at Maurice Nagar police station, police said. Students alleged that the accused has used the debit cards to make transactions worth around Rs 50,000 and stolen around Rs 3,000 from various rooms. The incident reportedly took place on September 12, when the Delhi University Students Union elections were held. According to students of Sri Ram Memorial Girls Hostel, the incident took place in broad daylight. A hostel resident said, “Many girls were in the mess, which is open from 1pm to 2pm. We saw the person entering around 1:40pm and leaving around 2:10 pm, as per CCTV footage.
