Mandi: One dead, 7 injured in a road mishap
Himachal Pradesh News: In a major accident, an engineering student from West Bengal was killed and seven people were critically injured when the car they were travelling in slipped off the road and plunged into the banks of Beas river. The incident took place near the Aut Tunnel on the Chandigarh-Manali highway in Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh. According to the information, the deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Sandipta Kundu. Those injured are Shahid Alam Aamir (24), Kartik (22), Ashok (20), Kaloyan (21), Saurabh (23) and Bapa Mondal (25). During the accident, the driver Rahul Malhotra, who is a resident of Una district, was also injured. The accident took place at around 11:30 pm. Mandi Superintendent of police (SP) Gurdev Chand Sharma stated that the students were on a trip to Manali and were returning to Delhi in a taxi. As per report, the driver lost control as soon as the vehicle crossed the Aut tunnel.
