Manifesto shall be made legal document, says Parkash Singh Badal
With the Punjab Assembly elections due in 2022, Shiromani Akali Dal stalwart and five-time Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has called for making manifesto a legal document. Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said it had become the habit of parties to make announcements to woo the electorate ahead of the elections. It has become the habit to make false assurances ahead of the elections," he said. Lashing out at the Punjab Government, the SAD stalwart questioned its "unfulfilled" promise of providing employment for the jobless youth in the state. It is pertinent to mention here that the Shiromani Akali Dal has forged an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party for the Punjab Assembly elections due in 2022. Earlier, the SAD had severed the ties with the BJP after the introduction of three farms laws by the NDA government at the Centre.
Even after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the government has decided to repeal the farm laws, the SAD president ruled out any possibility of allying with the BJP again for the Assembly elections.
