Manish Sisodia's OSD Gopal Krishna Madhav in CBI net
Delhi News: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Gopal Krishna Madhav for taking bribes from transporters. Gopal Krishna was arrested by the agency in an operation on Thursday, ahead of the crucial Delhi Assembly elections 2020.
The arrest was made after a middleman Dheeraj Gupta, who was nabbed on February 5, claimed that he was collecting bribe on behalf of the officer. Meanwhile, the agency had not found any connection of Sisodia’s involvement in the case so far.
A CBI spokesperson stated that the CBI arrested Dheeraj Gupta, a resident of Delhi, and Gopal Krishna Madhav, Goods and Services Tax (GST) Officer in Trade and Taxes Department of Government of NCT, Delhi, in a bribery case of Rs 2.26 lakh. Madhav is also the OSD to Deputy CM of Delhi.
During the questioning with CBI, Dheeraj Gupta claimed that he was collecting bribe for Gopal Madhav, the officials said. Madhav is a Delhi Andaman and Nicobar Island Civil Service officer in trade and tax department.
CBI official also stated that "It was alleged that Dheeraj was acting as a middleman on behalf of Madhav for collecting illegal money from transporters for not charging GST from them." Meanwhile, Madhav was immediately taken to the headquarters where he was questioned by the CBI officers.

The official also said that Gopal Krishna Madhav was posted in Sisodia's office since 2015. While reacting to the arrest, Manish Sisodia took to twitter and wrote: "I have come to know that the CBI has arrested a GST inspector taking bribe. This officer was also posted in my office as OSD. The CBI should immediately punish him severely. I have got many such corrupt officials caught in the last 5 years."
