The Delhi MLA Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today raised issue of GST on Langar in Delhi Gurudwaras and other religious places in Vidhan Sabha and urged the Kejriwal government to follow centre government on the issue and waive of its own share of SGST and IGST on Langar.

Raising the issue in Vidhan Sabha today Mr. Sirsa said that Lakhs of devotees visit these historical Gurdwaras, Temples and other religious places from around the world. He said that about 50 thousand people, eat Langar daily in all the Gurdwaras in Delhi and the number doubles on weekends and the number multiplies on Gurpurab days. He said that similar is the case with Temples and other religious places in the National Capital.

He said that he had also written a letter on the issue to the Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal. He requested the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Manish Sisodia who was present in House to seriously consider the issue and issue necessary directions in this regard.

He said that Gurdwara Bangla Sahib has been conferred with one of the most visited religious place in Delhi and the cleanest religious place under Swachh Bharat campaign. Gurdwara Bangla Sahib has been listed under World Book of Records (WBR) London for matchless contribution in philanthropy services and providing non-stop Langar (Free kitchen) in India.

He said that the Central Government under the leadership of Sh. Narender Modi has waived off its share of CGST on the purchase of food items for langar of all the religious places across India. He said that he was personally thankful to Union Cabinet Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal who took up the issue relentlessly and ultimately achieved success in not only getting GST waived for Gurudwara Langars but for langar in all the religious places.

It is most humbly submitted that the State Government of Delhi should also come forward to waive its share of SGST and IGST on the food items on the purchase of food items for langar of all the religious places.

He said that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee runs so many charitable projects including Langar sewa. The GST relief will help DSGMC to run its charitable work in a better way.
