However, BJP refused to accept his resignation. Aam Aadmi Party won 62 seats while BJP won 8 seats. Tiwari’s removal has been in gossips ever since Tuesday’s election results. Meanwhile, BJP leadership is not in favour of a change if guard at the moment.
The sources revealed that while refusing to accept Manoj Tiwari’s resignation, the party leadership have told Tiwari that the change will take place only when structural changes will be made in BJP Delhi unit. The resignation was offered to BJP President JP Nadda.
The Delhi BJP unit has been a problem because of the internal conflict. Vijay Goel has his own followers. Likewise, Manoj Tiwari and Dr Harsh Vardhan have different set of followers. There have been demands to remove Manoj Tiwari from the post of Delhi BJP chief for more than a year now.
However, the then BJP President Amit Shah had refused to entertain such demands keeping Delhi elections in mind, where Purvanchalis constitute a sizeable number and Tiwari often flaunts his Purvanchali origin. Meanwhile, BJP President JP Nadda convened meeting on Wednesday evening to review the Delhi Assembly elections and to fix accountability.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Arvind Kejriwal for winning a mandate in Delhi elections 2020. He took to twitter and wrote: “Congratulations to AAP and Shri Arvind Kejriwal Ji for the victory in the Delhi Assembly Elections. Wishing them the very best in fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Delhi.”
