Mansa: Harsimrat Badal comes to rescue Husan Kaur sugarcane seller What a wonderful thing to do on mothers day! Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal gave 46,000 rupees to a sugar cane juice seller in Mansa to help her get rid of debt and support her family, here on Sunday. Husan Kaur who was a handball player earlier, had to resort to selling sugarcane juice to support her family. Her father and brother died and all the responsibility burdened her young shoulders. 'Harsimrat Kaur Badal drank juice and asked me for how long I have been working here and about my family members. She then got some juice filled in a bottle and gave me 46,000 and hugged me very sweetly,' said Husan Kaur. 'I always wanted to do something big in life, but i couldn't due to my family conditions. My mother keeps ill and so I have to work and take care of her too,' added Husan. She sells sugarcane juice at Beer kalan, Mansa bus stand to support her family. Harsimrat Kaur Badal has always come to the rescue of women, especially to make them self sufficient and to empower them. In a time where women are no less than men, she makes sure that women are self dependent and are able to earn their bread and butter. After having set up centers where women can learn knitting, stitching, computers and other skills in Punjab to grow in life and support their families, she leaves no chance to help people in person too. -PTC News
