Mansa Rape & Murder Case: Rapist Awarded Capital Punishment The accused found guilty in rape and murder case of a 4-year-old girl in Mansa was awarded death sentence by the court on Wednesday. The hearing was held today in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Jaspal Verma in which the accused Kala Singh was sentenced to death. What is the case all about:  On May 13, 2016, a 4-year-old girl was raped and killed in Mansa. According to Mukhwinder Singh, senior superintendent of police (SSP), accused Kala Singh, 40, a resident of Fatehabad district in Haryana, was a distant relative of the victim and had come to attend a marriage ceremony at her native village Alampur Mandra. According to the family, they found their daughter missing the day before. They looked everywhere, but couldn’t find her anywhere. They then informed the police about the disappearance of the girl. Later, some people informed the family that the girl was last seen with the accused after which the police arrested the accused from Boha. SSP said, “After his arrest, he confessed that under the influence of alcohol he had taken the child to a nearby canal on Wednesday evening and raped her. She was later strangulated and buried near the canal. Then we recovered the body and sent it for postmortem to the civil hospital.” The accused was booked under sections 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder), 376 (punishment for rape), 302 (murder) of IPC along with sections 3, 4, 5 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. -PTC NEWS
