Massive fire breaks out at a plastic warehouse in Kerala; triggers panic A major fire broke out in a plastic warehouse in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on Wednesday. A two-story plastic factory at Manvila Industrial Estate was engulfed in the fire for more than 4 hours. Workers were working at the time when the fire broke out. They managed to rush out as soon as the fire broke out. No causalities were reported there. People residing within a kilometer radius of the warehouse were evacuated immediately. They were asked to stay one km away from the site as massive toxic fumes due to plastic burning. Thirty engines were trying to control the fire. Nearly 40 firemen from Kollam, Kanyakumari, and Thiruvananthapuram were fighting the fire. The fire started around 7 pm. It took more than four hours to douse the fire. Since the substances were highly combustible, the fire sources kept the area under high alert, after the fire was doused off.
