Mehul Choksi Has Moved To Antigua, Taken Local Passport Just a day after the Gitanjali Gems promoter Mehul Choksi moved to court to cancel the non-bailable warrant against him, Choksi had moved to Antigua and Barbuda, in the Caribbean islands, and had even secured a local passport there as per sources. Last week, Interpol stated that Choksi was not in the US. The authorities in Antigua responded to the Interpol diffusion notice against him on Tuesday. Choksi’s lawyer, Sanjay Abbot, refused to comment in this case. Interpol is yet to take an action on the red corner notice request issued on advice by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Choksi. The CBI, in its charge sheets filed on May 14, had alleged that Nirav Modi, through his companies transfers funds over a period of time to the tune of Rs 6,498.20 crore using fraudulent LoUs issued from PNB's Brady House branch in Mumbai. Choksi allegedly cheated Rs 7080.86 crore, making it possibly the biggest banking scam in the country, it had alleged. Interpol had issued a red corner notice against Nirav Modi, his brother Neeshal Modi and their business executive Subhash Parab on 2 July, the request in the case of Choksi is still under process. -PTC NEWS
