Minimum temperature hovers above normal in Punjab, Haryana

Chandigarh: The minimum temperature today continued to hover above normal levels across Punjab and Haryana, including Union Territory Chandigarh. For the past few days, the minimum temperature has hovered two to six notches above normal at most places in the two states. Chandigarh, which received traces of rainfall, recorded a low of 15.5 degrees, up seven notches, a Meteorological Department official said. The temperature in Punjab's Amritsar settled at a low of 9 degrees Celsius, up two notches. Ludhiana recorded a low of 13.1 degrees Celsius, up four degrees, while the mercury in Patiala settled at 15.8 degrees Celsius, seven notches above normal. In Bathinda the minimum temperature settled at 10.8 degrees Celsius, Faridkot 11.6 degrees, Gurdaspur 16.9 degrees, Pathankot 13.2 degrees, Adampur 11.2 degrees and Halwara 11.2 degrees Celsius. Pathankot and Madhopur in Punjab were lashed by rains, the MeT official said. Ambala in Haryana recorded a low of 15.6 degrees Celsius, six notches above normal. Hisar recorded a minimum of 13.5 degrees Celsius, while the mercury in Karnal settled at 13 degrees Celsius, both three notches above normal. — PTI
