Minor 8 months pregnant after gang rape
In a shocking incident that took place in Sonipat, Haryana, a 15 year old minor was allegedly repeatedly raped by her cousins. What’s even more disturbing is the fact that she is eight months pregnant now and termination was out of question.
Complaining a stomach ache to her mother, the victim was taken to the hospital. After diagnosis, the doctors were shocked to find the minor girl eight months pregnant.
On investigating, the girl revealed that her cousins first raped her in December last year. She was alone at home when the duo, Suraj and Ajeet (chachu’s sons) allegedly raped her. Since that day, she has been repeatedly raped by them.
Not only was she repeatedly raped, but was also asked to stay quiet or else they would kill her parents.
The case has been filed and registered under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The minor has been arrested, while the police are still hunting for the older boy who was 18year old.
The minor was yesterday produced before a court which sent him to a juvenile home.
The girl was denied abortion as Dr. C P Arora principal medical officer said, "Abortion at this stage is impossible and illegal. She will have to give birth to the child, and any pregnancy before 18 is dangerous,"
In similar dreadful incidents, a 10-year-old from Rohtak was allegedly raped by her step father and was found to be five months pregnant. Her pregnancy made national news in May this year. She was allowed to abort by the district court.
A 10-year-old girl Chandigarh was raped by her uncle and is seven months pregnant. She was denied an abortion by a district court which said that "she is too young and her pregnancy too advanced to have an abortion".
