Minor girl gang-raped, murdered; family vandalises police vehicle in West Bengal
A seven-year-old girl was gang-raped and murdered on Thursday in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district. According to the media sources, the victim went to buy some grocery at around 7 pm on Thursday. When she didn’t return, the family of the minor girl started searching for her. They found her body near their house.
The minor girl’s body has been sent for postmortem to the Asansol District Hospital.
The police also reached the spot, where the body was found. Following its arrival, victims’ family and neighbours started pelting stones at the police vehicle. They also blocked the national highway-2 (NH2). The police attempted to control the situation. Agitators told that they would not end the protest until they were assured immediate and fast inquiry in the case.
Asansol Commissioner of Police Laxmi Narayan Meena told the media sources that police has detained two men in connection with this rape case.
The investigation is underway. More details are awaited.
