A 32-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife. On May 5, a decomposed and maggot-infested body was recovered from a locked house in Mataur village, Mohali. The accused, Ramesh Yadav, a native of Kumar Khand village in Madehepura district of Bihar, was arrested by a police party at a hideout in Bihar. The accused confessed to having strangled his wife, Rupa Devi, to death using a dupatta. His wife was having an affair with another man for the past 18 months due to which he killed her. Mataur SHO Sub-Inspector Rajiv Kumar said infidelity was the motive behind the crime as the accused suspected that his wife was having an affair with another man. Mohali: Husband arrested in Mataur murder case by Police Yadav, who worked as a mason at Nayagaon, along with his wife, had rented a room on the ground floor of a house in Mataur in the last week of April. The crime was committed on May 2, while the body was found on May 5 after the neighbours had informed the police after foul smell had started emanating from the locked room. The police broke into the room and found the woman’s bloated body lying on the bed. Some beer bottles and contraceptives (condom) were recovered from the room. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code at the Mataur police station. -PTC News-
