Molasses leak : NGT summons Punjab Govt, CPCB, PPCB and MC Ludhiana
After a delegations of MLAs of AAP met the National Green Tribunal, the Government of Punjab, Central Government CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board), PPCB and Ludhiana municipal have been summoned by NGT on Thursday.
The court takes suo motu notice on the matter. The court will begin hearing in the case on Thursday.
MLA H S Phoolka, Sukhpal Khaira, Rupinder Ruby, Najjar Singh were among the AAP leaders who met NGT today morning.
A delegation of MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Khaira, met the National Green Tribunal (NGT) Chairperson, Justice Jawad Rahim, on Wednesday in New Delhi.
The meeting was held in order to complain about the dangerous levels of contamination and pollution in the rivers and canals of Punjab endangering aquatic animals and humans.
Khaira said on Tuesday, that the legislative wing of AAP had decided to take up the issue of dangerous contamination and pollution in the rivers, rivulets, canals and drains of Punjab, with the NGT in the backdrop of the contamination of Beas river by a sugar mill.
