Monsoon Session: Around 5,700 Properties Sealed By Civic Bodies In Delhi More than 5,700 properties have been sealed by three municipal corporations in Delhi since, December 2017. They have been sealed for allegedly violating provisions of Delhi's Master Plan, after directions given by Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee. The Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has submitted a written reply that North and South Delhi Municipal Corporations have sealed 2,655 and 1,995 properties. Meanwhile, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has sealed 1,043 after the December 2017 judgement of the apex court. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the civic bodies have already informed that they were taking demolition and sealing actions against the properties violating the provisions of the Delhi Master Plant 2021 and Unified Building Bylaws-2016. The sealing drive was launched by three municipal corporations in late December, last year. Traders even called bandh many times to stop these sealings. On June 21, Ministry notified amendments to MPD-2021 to provide relief to traders. They increased the Floor Area Ration (FAR) for construction carried out beyond permissible limits. Puri also informed the Lok Sabha that the Special Task Force (STF) was formed under the chairmanship of DDA vice-chairman for removal of encroachments in Delhi. The Special Task Force (STF) has commissioners of all the three municipal corporations as its members. It has also removed encroachments on a total area under permanent structures measuring around 1,99,382.3 sqm. There were areas cleared under temporary structures were around 6,52,308.3 sqm. Whereas, roads, street and footpath measuring 1,280.615 km were cleared in the national capital. Nearly 5, 964 vehicles and 15,892 items were also sealed by three municipal corporations in Delhi. -PTC NEWS
